Nizhniy Novgorod

Nizhniy Novgorod is the city in the Privolzhsky (Volga) Federal District.

The year of foundation is 1221.

The population more than 1.2 million.

Since 1932 to 1992 the city was named Gorky in honor of the Soviet writer Maxim Gorky who was nominated for the Nobel prize 5 times. 

Nizhniy Novgorod is situated on the conflux the rivers Oka and Volga. 

There is a deer on the Nizhniy Novgorod emblem but the deers doesn’t inhabit in the region. Instead the moose are living here.  

Nizhniy Novgorod and the neighboring city Bor are connected by the ropeway. The ropeway is a customary public transport, and one of the most popular attractions in the Nizhniy Novgorod.
