Art Park MUZEON (Парк Музеон)

Muzeon is the park and contemporary public space in Moscow. The park appeared in this place almost spontaneous; to the end of 1970th the new-built art gallery “Central House of Artists” was surrounded by the open space with construction waste. During the next ten years, the artists and Moscow government planted trees and bushes, so the small park came into sight around the art gallery.

It could be the ordinary park if it was not for historical changes in the country. Due to the break up of the Soviet Union in 1991, the high number of monuments and sculptures of the Soviet period were demounted. Some hundreds of them landed in this place near the gallery. In short order, it was decided to leave monuments here and put in here the open-air museum of sculptures.

To 2013 the Muzeon was reconstructed and expanded with the pedestrian riverbank Krymskaya Naberezhnaya. The Art Park Muzeon became the new point of attraction in the city. There were presented walking paths and bicycle lanes, renewed fountains, skateboarders’ ground, and children’s area. You can enjoy a beautiful view of the Moscow River and Krymsky Bridge.

The pavilion Vernissage is designed for the painters, the exhibition and sale is held here all the year-round.

The pavilion SHKOLA (SCHOOL) is the space for educational programs, lectures, talks, workshops, and interviews of interesting people.

The summer open-air cinema Pioneer shows not only films but also concerts, talks, and other public events.

Since 2015 the Muzeon is the part of Gorky Park.
