Lipetsk Regional Museum of Local Lore (Липецкий областной краеведческий музей)

The historical and ethnographic museum of general education in Lipetsk was opened in 1909 together with the public library and Sunday school.

The Museum collection presents the Lipetsk Region on many sides; expositions clarifies the local history and natural specifics:

  • The earliest time history – archaeological finds in the Lipetsk Region;
  • History of Lipetsk from the first mentioned in 1146;
  • “Holy Russia” – exposition of icons and ancient art from the local churches;
  • “Peter I on the Lipetsk land” – the local history of XVII-XVIII centuries;
  • Exposition about the Soviet times;
  • Nature of the Lipetsk Region;
  • Paintings and graphics;
  • “We are all were born in childhood’ – the exhibition of the toys;
  • Exposition “The Blind Musician” presents the history of the musical instruments from folk to modern samples and the sound-reproducing equipment.
  • “Literary Salon” presents the writers which life is related to the Lipetsk Region, especially attention is given to the XIX century.
  • Lipetsk Region in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).

The concert hall of the Museum is the place for the lectures and musical events.

The Museum is placed in the building of the former House of Political Propaganda.

Tuesday – Friday – from 10 to 18 (ticket office till 17)

Saturday, Sunday – from 11 to 19 (ticket office till 18)

Day off – Monday, and the last Friday of each month
