Alexey Zelya Glass Museum (Музей стекла Алексея Зеля)

Alexey Zelya (1944-2017) is the Russian glass-blower, the creator more than 200 works from the silica glass.

Alexey Zelya was enthusiastic about nature study since childhood, it was the birds and insects attendance, plants classifications, and after school, he got into the Biological Department of Moscow State University.

Marriage and the birth of a child, and necessity to keep a family not allowed to finish his university studies, so Alexey Zelya found a job in the Moscow Electric-bulb Plant, in the silica tubes production. That plant became the place where his creative career started when he tried to make artworks in off-duty hours.

Among the subjects of the works are floral compositions, nature, fairytale, and literary themes, ships. Besides materialization of artistic conception, Alexey Zelya gave a lot of time to production methods. Due to research and elaborations, the new colors and top coats was found and used in works.

Since 1980’s author began to participate in the exhibitions, the first personal one took place in 1988 and scores a great success. The last 20 years of artist life his display was provided in various cities in Russia, and in the end, since 2016, the exhibition had got the permanent showroom in Kaluga.
