Тhe Kaliningrad Regional Museum of History and Art (Калининградский областной историко-художественный музей)

The Kaliningrad Regional Museum of History and Art has the largest collection of the Kaliningrad region culture, art and history artifacts. The Museum was founded in 1946, the same year of foundation Kaliningrad region. The findings of archeological excavation and the private collection were the first exhibits of the Museum. Since that time the Museum collected more than 140 thousand items.

The Museum is located in the former concert hall was built in 1912.

The archeological section shows the antique pieces of the period from the Late Stone Age until the time of the conquest of Prussia by the Teutonic Order, and the unique exhibits of the Viking Age.  There are samples of cloth, weapon, household and interior goods.

The section of World War II presents the originals of documents, photographs, letters of combatants, military uniform and weapon, and the spectacular diorama “The Battle of Königsberg.”

The nature section shows the flora and fauna of the Kaliningrad region. And, of course, the pieces made of amber, the icon of the Kaliningrad.
