The Bolshoi Theatre (Большой Театр)

The Bolshoi Theatre is a world-famous theatre. This theatre is one of the largest in Russia. It also has to be mentioned the Bolshoi Theatre is one of the most considerable opera and ballet theatres in Europe. It is the recognized symbol of Russian culture.

The theatre is located in a very center of Moscow, on the Theatre Square. The Bolshoi Theatre has two scenic platforms – the Historic Stage and the New Stage, the last has appeared before reconstruction of the Historic Stage in 2002. Reconstruction of the main building gave to the theater well-equipped space; the Bolshoi Theatre actively uses new technologies.

The Bolshoi Theatre presents not only the masterpieces of Russian classics but also of the Western classics, including the XX century. Perfect performances, beautiful scenery, and interior give a feeling of unspeakable delight.

Since 2013 the Bolshoi Theatre has been representing the ballet performances in real-time at cinema theatres throughout the world.

You can start your acquaintance with the Bolshoi Theater at an excursion to the historic building. Tour for Russian tourists begins at 11.10; tour for English tourists starts at 11.15 every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tickets can be purchased on the day of the visit at the ticket office located in the Historical building of the Theatre (door №12). As a tour group has 15 persons limit it will be better to come a little earlier.

Tickets for the Bolshoi Theatre can be purchased at the theatre box office, from the official distributors, and also in advance online.

At 11.15 in English, price – 1300 rub.

Children under ten years old are not permitted into the theatre for evening performances.
